THE RIGHT FAT WILL MAKE
YOU THIN
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A quick search on the web shows approximately
2,400,000 listings for 'weight loss'. Most people
want to know how to lose weight fast and easy.
Gaining weight more than likely took some time,
so losing it will, too. And get-thin-quick schemes
are never long-term; your weight more than likely
will come back.
Weight loss drugs and chemical food additives
like aspartame and diet pills shut down the body's
natural processes, resulting in an artificial
weight loss that's temporary. As soon as you get
off the weight loss program and chemical weight
loss products, the weight creeps back on - slowly
but surely.
A person's body weight is a reflection of their
lifestyle.
Whatever eating and exercise program you adopt
for weight loss, it should be a lifetime habit
in order to have permanent results.
Fats and sugars are important for body function.
Natural sugar fuels our bodies and fat keeps us
lubricated - the right kind of fat, that is. Conjugated
linoleic acids (CLAs) are the right kind of fats
for a healthy and permanent weight loss. According
to research by Dr. David Williams, CLAs are anti-fats
that burn-up other fats. CLAs are known more commonly
as EFAs, essential fatty acids. Older literature,
in fact, refers to them as vitamin F.
EFAs are found in beef, lamb, turkey, and some
milk products. Human bodies don't produce enough
EFAs to suffice our needs, so we must depend on
a healthy diet to have adequate amounts to convert
fat into energy. Without sufficient EFAs, fat
is stored in the cells. Grass fed beef and natural
milks contain more CLA/EFA opposed to cattle fed
grain in feedlots and over-processed, diluted
milks. If you cannot find a whole food's source
for essential fatty acids, you can supplement
with CLAs and EFAs. Make sure you purchase a quality
essential fatty acid, though, so you get more
bang for your buck and lose weight healthily.
To lose weight, omega 3 EFAs are the most affective.
Scientists classify essential fatty acids into
two types, omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty
acids, depending on their chemical composition.
Technically, the omega-3 fatty acids are alpha-linolenic
acids found mainly in flaxseed oil, canola oil,
soybeans, walnuts, hemp seeds, and dark green
leafy vegetables, cold-water fish, including salmon,
trout, sardines, mackerel and cod. Cod liver oil
is a popular nutritional supplement for omega-3
EFAs.
Omega-6 fatty acids (CLAs) are more common in
the American diet than the omega-3 EFAs. These
include linoleic acid, which is found in safflower,
olive, almond, sunflower, hemp, soybean, walnut,
pumpkin, sesame, and flaxseed oils, and evening
primrose oil.

acids:

FDA APPROVES MODIFIED VERSION
OF ASPARTAME: NEOTAME
-----------------------------------------------------------------
October 2002, the FDA approved Neotame, a modified
version of aspartame. Neotame may prove more troublesome
than aspartame as it is suspected of causing similar
health problems, learning and behavioral problems
with more potency.
Neotame has gone from Monsanto Chemical Company
(original patent holder) to The NutraSweet Company
to J.W. Childs Partnership to Pharmacia to Pfizer.
Neotame contains all the dangerous elements of
aspartame and more: the two original amino acids
found in aspartame L-aspartic acid and L-phenylalanine,
and two organic functional groups: one a methyl
ester group (methanol) and the other a neohexyl
group. Joined together, these components form
sweetness 13,000 times sweeter
than sugar, equaling 8,000 teaspoons of sugar.
Like aspartame, it is a very potent and dangerous
compound.
First petitioned in 1997, Neotame was approved
in 2002 as safe for chewing gum, carbonated soft
drinks, refrigerated and non-refrigerated ready-to-drink
beverages, frozen desserts and novelties, puddings
and fillings, yogurt products, baked goods, and
candies.
Phenylalanine and aspartic acid are essential
amino acids found in foods, but there is a big
difference between natural amino acids found in
combination and man-made laboratory replicas split
into isolated form. Phenylalanine and aspartic
acid enable our neurotransmitters to function
normally, and our bodies are designed to handle
'normal' amounts of these amino acids. Nevertheless,
when
we take in large amounts of them, the delicate
balance in our bodies is disrupted and they become
toxic to the nervous system. Both phenylalanine
and aspartic acid interfere with the production
of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that drives many
important functions in a normal body, such as
enabling us to concentrate and learn. Serotonin
is also a calming agent, and a person deficient
in serotonin is prone to behave violently.
Neotame appears to be the 'next generation' of
aspartame problems plaguing people today. Now,
the aspartame issue continues 13,000 times more
dangerously.

DID YOU KNOW?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
* The supplement MSM is a form of sulfur, which
will help your body remove heavy metals, such
as Mercury. The herb Cilantro will help mobilize
Mercury out of body tissues, too. A good form
of Cilantro is a tincture available through Dragon
River (505-583-2348).
* Lemons, limes, and grapefruits are not acidic
fruits but are highly alkaline. Eating these fruits
will keep your body pH on the alkaline side, which
prevents diseased environments.
* Alcoholic drinks may aggravate asthma due to
sensitivity to the alcohol itself, and also due
to the many non-alcoholic components, which determine
the flavor and character of the drinks such as
sulfites and histamine.
* Adequate protein AND calcium intake together
act synergistically to reduce bone loss and have
improved hip fracture healing and lessen the recurrence
of hip fractures. Natural unprocessed calcium
sources are the best, such as dolomite and coral
calcium, and have an uptake as high as 86% opposed
to manufactured calcium.

Q AND A WITH DR. JANET

Subject: Possible MS
Q: I had been using Aspartame by drinking Diet
drinks and chewing the sugar-free gums. All I
had as a possible health problem was arm and neck
pain and I complained enough to the doctor which
in turn created me to have an MRI of the brain.
The MRI came back very abnormal and then I had
a Spinal Tap which some of the fluids were elevated
to show possible MS. The early stages they say.
May I ask does the Aspartame cause the lesions
on the brain? PLEASE RESPOND???? I am desperate
to get a second opinion and learn that I may not
have this disease!!
A: YES!! Dr. John Olney from Washington School
of Medicine proved over and over that aspartame
put holes (lesions) in the brains of his lab mice.
Aspartame is connected with MS symptoms, also.
Get off ALL aspartame and read your labels carefully
as it is in products not labeled as sugar-free,
such as the new Juicy Fruit gums. Follow my detox
program to remove all the toxins and restore your
health with vitamins - be careful here, too, as
some vitamins are junky. Get good health food
brands. And NO isolated amino acids such as L-Phenylalanine.
They will create a reaction, also.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you. Russell Blaylock
has a book EXCITOTOXINS: THE TASTE THAT KILLS.
His book and my book should help you with the
proper info on this. Try to locate Dr. John Olney's
work on the internet.

Subject: Flavored Water
Q: I have read your article on aspartame, phenylalanine
and
phenylketonuria. Now my question is that I have
a diabetic friend who drinks flavored water that
has these things in it. Am I thinking right that
it is unhealthy for an individual with diabetes
and heart problems to be drinking anything with
these ingredients in them??? Should he be told
that it is unsafe to drink anything with these
products in them?? I would appreciate if you would
let me know because I feel that it is very unsafe
to drink even though it says sodium free, calorie
free and caffeine free. Please help me out.
A: You are correct. Anything and everything that
has aspartame is dangerous, especially for a diabetic.
What's wrong with regular water? Americans are
forgetting how to eat and drink the way we were
intended to, and all the fancy additives that
make life 'sweeter' are killing us. Your friend
will discover he may have an addiction to sugary
things, and if he gets off the processed fake
foods and returns to a raw and natural, chemical-free
diet, he will require less insulin and it won't
spike and swing day to day. He needs to exercise,
too.

Subject: How Do I Detox?
Q: Due to a friend informing me about aspartame
I went on the internet to try to find a way to
detoxify my body. At the moment the only way to
do this I'm aware of is drinking water. Symptoms
- Headaches, flickering lights in my eyes, depression,
inability to sleep, tired, lethargic, body aches,
numbness in hands. Just an overall feeling of
being ill. I would like to know if there is something
more I should be doing. If you could put me in
contact with a local physician I would appreciate
it.
A: Go to the section of the website DETOX INFO
and click on the headers on the top for DETOX
PROCESS. This will tell you the vitamins to take
to cleanse your body of toxins. If you can't find
the clay, that's OK, but you should be able to
order it off the net. Get the other products at
your local health food store and begin right away.
Stop using ALL aspartame, and read labels carefully
as it is hidden in products NOT sugar-free, too.
Call your best health food store to see if they
can recommend a homeopath or nutritional doctor
in your area. Just getting off aspartame may improve
these symptoms, though.
